Sorting the Pets

(An abridged version of last night's conversation.)

I say, "The kitty was just looking at something out the window, got freaked out and ran away."

Jeff, (on the phone) says, "He is such a wimp."

I say, "Yes, he's not very brave."

Jeff says, "I hate to break it to you, but Loki would probably be in Hufflepuff."

I laugh.

Jeff says, "Because he is also not that smart.  He doesn't even have a brain."

I say, "Hey!" (He is always saying the kitty doesn't have a brain.)

Jeff says, "Let's do all the pets we know!  Alice.  Alice is definitely a Slytherin.  She's ambitious and a little mean."

I agree.

"Now Guy.  Guy is a Gryffindor.  He is brave.  He stood up to that little dog, one time."

This goes on for a little while.  Most cats are either in Slytherin or Hufflepuff.  We only really know one dog, and she is a Gryiffindor, though more for being reckless than brave, which is an important distinction.  "Like Ron," Jeff says, "Mostly he just doesn't think.  Like Kaiser."

We can't think of any pets that would belong to Ravenclaw.

Are You Having a Bad Day?

Work was a bit crazy, today.  Someone stole the long power cord that was bringing power to the trailer where our temporary office was, so that when I showed up a bit before nine the lights didn't work and (of course) our computers, copier and fax machine were all out of business.  And, naturally, we had people showing up for meetings at 9 and 9:15 and 10 and 10:45 and 11:00, etc.

So we ran around a bit and somehow got things worked out so we had a temporary temporary office inside the building.  But it was a day definitely in need of some cute.

Are You Having a Bad Day?

Homecoming addition.  (Yes, I am having a poor quality day.)

It is not just families that get left behind.  Just add "happy dogs" to the list of reasons we shouldn't be at war.
